Principles of Operation

The metal diaphragm group, which separates the process gas from the pulsing oil, is sealed at the edge and restrained to move and deflect into carefully contoured cavities.

The process gas flows into the compressor during the suction stroke through the suction check valve. The compressed gas passes out of the compressor through the discharge check valve.

The diaphragms move in response to the movement of the oil, which is pulsed by the piston. The base crosshead is shown fitted with a reduced diameter hydraulic piston that displaces the pulsing oil at the required operating pressure.
